Google Optimization and Flash Files

Google Optimization and Flash Optimization

As many of you already know, Flash is basically a movie with repeating frames. Meaning one line of text could be repeated 100 times for a one second effect. Googlebot doesn't have eyes and employs artificial intelligence that cannot ascertain when to stop reading the repeating text.

Although Googlebot can typically:

  1. Read Flash files
  2. Take the content out as a text file to be calculated for placement
  3. Follow the links to other pages

The problem is as described above - how correct is the information that they extract; especially repeating text? Textual contents taken by Google depend on the flash programming as text can be stored in Flash as graphics or symbols. Since Googlebot doesn't currently read these graphic symbols it is important for keywords to be entirely STATIC TEXT. All of this means is that even if your Flash content is in the index, it might be missing some text, content, or links due to the way that it was created.

One of our services is duplication or replication using our optimization knowledge of flash websites. We review your flash and determine how much of it is search engine friendly and then strategically reverse the text symbols or graphic text into regular index able text that can be read by the top search engines. Then break out the areas of the movie into static URL's. Most entirely flash sites do not have a URL that changes; we can fix this and expand your offering to google for more traffic and revenue!!

Managing your email inbox for increased productivity

Cut the number of new email messages coming in

Try to reduce the number of incoming e-mail messages. Be sure to cancel subscriptions to unwanted mailings. The messages pile up if you don’t have time to read them.
Spam filters reduce the amount of spam in your inbox. But don’t think that it will eliminate spam completely. Some will still get through as email spammers become more creative.
Do your friends send jokes or chain messages? Explain your situation and ask that they stop. Hopefully, they’ll oblige. Sometimes it is easy to give them a ‘JUNK Email’ address to allow you to receive their musings but only review once a month at the alternate location. This separates business from pleasure and increases your work flow.

Respond Accordingly

Not all e-mail requires a response. If you receive an e-mail addressed to several people, you may not need to respond. If a response it required, it may not need to go to everybody – do the others a favor and leave them off the forward or reply if possible.
Be clear and to the point in your email response; restrict your messages to a few sentences. If the e-mail contains different ideas, reply to each concept in separate messages. This may take longer at first; it will be easier to deal with each e-mail thread under complicated business development issues.

Use Subject Lines to Optimize your Out Going Email

E-mail subject lines should correlate to the body of the mail. Be as descriptive as possible. Subject lines that say things like "question" or "hello" should be avoided.

 Recipients won’t know:

1.       What the message is about

2.       How to categorize responses.

If you have a one-line e-mail, put it in the subject line. This will save you and the recipient valuable time.
If possible, create a set of codes with your co-workers. Placed in the subject line, codes help you process and prioritize messages.
For example, use "FYI" for informational messages. Use "AR" for action required and "URG" for urgent messages.
If you have long project names you can abbreviate project name from the beginning and use in the subject line. For example: Helen Pensanti, MD becomes HPMD internally for tracking and working with the client.

Copying and Forwarding Others – Use Common Sense

Be courteous when forwarding an e-mail. Summarize the message and say why you’re forwarding it. This is particularly helpful if the e-mail contains several messages.

Recipients will appreciate your thoughtfulness. They won’t need to read through several messages to guess your thoughts. This will cut down on questions from recipients.

Don’t copy someone on a message unless it is necessary. And explain why you’re copying them. Recipients won’t need to guess your intentions. This means less back and forth messages.

Control Your Temptations to Check E-Mail

Avoid the temptation to check your e-mail every two minutes. Check it every hour on the hour for important messages. If you can go longer, do so. Of course, this might not be feasible in some work environments.
Set time aside each morning and evening to process your inbox. When you’re done, it should be completely empty. File messages you need to keep. Set reminders for messages that require you to follow up.
Respond to messages immediately, so you only read them once. There is an exception to this rule. If emotions might govern your response, give yourself a cooling-down period. We suggest that you write the draft response with your feelings and leave on your desktop. (Do not add the recipients address as it could get accidentally sent.) Come back to the email when your head is clear and remove your emotions.

Take Advantage of Built in E-mail Software Tools

Explore the tools your e-mail program offers by reading the help files. Set follow-up reminders, filters and folders to help file and prioritize e-mail. Auto-responders can alert business associates when you’re out of town. You won’t come back to a full inbox.

Google crawls more flash on Sunday

Below is a data center at Google that showed every listing as a [flash] site in front of the SERP title. The search performed was for a rare font style... guess it is popular with the flash designers.

This is good news that the engines are getting deeper into the flash content. Beware, if you are doing 'alternative medicine' for flash websites you will want to reduce your Flash SEO Medication as you could over dose and your rankings will dye from DUP content delivered by the actual page PLUS the flash website medications.

Google Site Search and Google Analytics

At the eMetrics Summit in Washington, D.C. Brett Crosby announced several Google Analytics features that will be rolled out over the coming weeks. Here's a rundown.

First, you'll be able to use Google Analytics to track site search activity. Simply edit any of your Google Analytics profiles to enable "Site Search" and you can find out what people search for on your site and where these searches lead. Located in the Content section of your Google Analytics reporting interface, Site Search reports show you the keywords and search refinement keywords people use, the pages from which people begin and end their searches. You can also see how search on your site affects site usage, conversion rates, and e-commerce activity.

Measuring Search engine markeing success for your OC Business

Measure business website success using targeted traffic and conversions. Historically SEOs have determined success by checking  the rankings in the search engines for various keyword phrases. Due to numerous factors such as personalized search, geo-targeted search and multiple search engine datacenters, no two searches will show the same results.

Google search using a particular phrase in the morning, then perform the same search in the afternoon and see may see different results. Rankings are simply not a vital measure of business website success. All the #1 rankings in the world  do not mean a thing if:
  1. You're the only one seeing those rankings
  2. You're ranked for keyword phrases nobody is searching on
  3. the rankings bring Web site traffic, but not from people interested in what you are selling.

Rankings do not help your business make money. Search engine marketing services success is measured by how much targeted traffic is delivered, and more importantly how much of that traffic converts from visitors to buyers.

‘Open Mobile’ by the End of 2009; Not Totally!!

Verizon announces they will be ‘open mobile’ by the end of 2009. Verizon Wireless Communications and Vodafone Group announced Tuesday it plans to open its wireless network by the end of next year to third-party mobile devices and software meeting certain minimum technical standards.

Also seen on the local evening news; an anchor stated they did not mention how Verizon will enable their 'network' to be able to accept calls from ANY PHONE regardless of the model or carrier.
To clarify Verizon currently accepts calls from all phones. They announced that they are going to be able to allow customers to use any phone as a Verizon customer. Cutting edge marketing consultants need to understand breaking news and technology. Our research indicated that Verizon will not be Totally Open Mobile as seen in a response from an associate in my network, John Westra.

John Westra said:
The Verizon announcement only impacts two other primary carrier's customers. Those are Sprint and Alltel. Both Sprint and Alltel use the same CDMA protocol for their service. In fact, Alltel has had network use agreements with both Verizon and Sprint for years, which is one of the reasons they claim to have the "best coverage" of all the major carriers.

Verizon's announcement simply means people who have a Sprint or Alltel CDMA phone will be able to activate it on the Verizon network. Potential customers will NOT be able to use "any" phone, including an iPhone with Verizon. Phones from Cingular / ATT, T-Mobile and Nextel use GSM and iDEN signaling protocols that are NOT compatible with Verizon's CDMA-based system.

Verizon's policy change/announcement is mandated if they want to bid on the 700 Mhz spectrum that is going to be auctioned off by the FCC. This is the same spectrum that Google is looking at for their wireless initiatives.

As for Mobile SEO; Google is definitely looking to capitalize on a potential investment in 700Mhz spectrum. My [John Westra] comment on ZDNet about this back in October is a “Web Resource" to a recent (Nov 6) article from the Wall Street Journal, that gives some good insight into Google's possible plans for the gPhone platform.

Google Gets Too Big and Too Corporate

Like every other company that becomes too big and powerful for their own good, Google started being entrepreneurial and responsive to its users and ended up corporate, complacent and arrogant. 30 years ago, who would have thought that American car makers like GM and Ford could lose the domestic market to Toyota? This year, 2007, it finally happened. End quote from a Aarron Wall Comment

As the comment suggests the big car makers never saw it coming. Neither did the chevy and ford enthusasts!! So if you are a Googler and live and die by Google toolbar, Google search, Google Blogger, Google Docs, and what ever crap that we are already using from Microsoft in some way shape or form:

Get READY for the next shake up. MSN's invitation to 'walk' away from Google and come away from the dark side was a no brainer. One day with the newly enhanced spaces and tools will make you re-think the dependance that has fueled Google's rise to power.

Sky Drive
It is truly sweet and has saved my butt twice in the few days due accessibility to file sharing and simple ease of use. Any machine any where right from the Internet. Public folders, shared and private folders. Invite your friends, edit and save for resend.

Live Local Listings
Very very cool surprises are in store for those that have been battling multiple logins with Google... try MSN LIVE LOCAL. it is cutting butter with a HOT marketing knife. A profile in Google local business listings it terrible and should be left behind with the rest of the technology in 2004.

OneCare
When running a windows OS - probably best to let the people who create the platform protect the platform. We are hearing great things about IE 7 security and rapid updates thru OneCare which scans, defrags, disk clean up, etc. Turn it on and go to bed... all in one care with no set up or struggle... it is integrated into your operating system (OS).

IM shared folders
Anywhere you can use your messenger you have your shared files readily available at the tips of your fingers.

After all....

If you are a marketer with an eye toward social marketing then MSN is the network to join!!

If you got a few bucks get a $500 PC, reformat and properly install XP operating system. Then only install Microsoft Products... all of which are free. Including a genuine copy of OFFICE 2007 FREE!! [and skip the virus scanning memory hogging apps. with onecare, a router, IE 7 you do not need the system stealing scanners.]

Many more surprises are right around the corner from Microsoft and the Live Team. Awesome Awesome job.

Join the crowd walking away from the too complex, spread to thin, bloated Google.

No animals were harmed during testing the enhanced MSN services and BETA live software. Additionally we receive no funding for backing the rested up MS who just came out swinging with the /\gloves/\ off to give Google a big knuckle sandwich.

SEO Expert Explains how to charge for oc seo

Jill Whalen is a nice person and a complete inspiration to keep doing SEO. At times I have contemplated working at the gas station instead selling candy bars and soda. Sure would be A LOT easier than SELLing a product no one understands but still wants anyway.

Thanks for the High Rankings in Google Jill.

Massive Drop In one hit wonder links

Link building is a strenous event no matter how you slice it. Locally or offsourcing.

Locally - you are best suited to watch for one hit wonders. black hat

Go to Yahoo Explorer and take a look at what kind of inbound links the link builder has for his own site. In this day and age it is probable that you could actually need to REMOVE links. I know I said it some but it is lost in the after math of seo testing for page rank.

Offsourcing:

these companies have gotten so large in India to supply the demand for low cost contractors that you will be hard pressed to engage a link builder worth his salt as an independant. They have all gone conglomarate and are managing staffs of people.

What I see occuring now after the fall out from Google stamping down on links is these companies are doing SEO for free. Basically they take a wack at it and if it works they get paid rupies per month. If it does not work; oh well. Next victim. these companies do not take any regard for your business...

We provide the highest level of service possible under the grueling conditions of search engine optimization and pay per click.

Search Engine Query Types

Search Engine Query Types

A navigational query is one that normally has only one satisfactory result: the user types in the name of an entity (“United Airlines”) and expects to be taken to the homepage of that entity.

An informational query can have many or few appropriate results, with varying degrees of relevance/informativeness/utility and varying degrees of authority. The user types in a topic (“renaissance paintings”, “aging disease”), sometimes in the form of an actual question (“What is a quark?”, "How do I...?"), and expects to be provided with information on this topic.

A transactional query as well can have many or few appropriate results, of varying quality. However, in this case the user is not requesting information – or at least not only information – but instead has the primary goal of carrying out a transaction. Typically, the transaction consists of the acquisition – for money or free - of a product or service. Some transactions can be fully carried out on the web (think furniture clipart download), some come to fruition offline (think furniture to put in a house).

Ascii Chart - Correcting Dynamic URL's

Ascii Programmers Resource: Coding Chart for Search Engine Marketing

Search Engine Marketing for Dynamic URL's

Ascii String Control Resource for Programming Dynamic URL's
SEO Jason's ascii chart for seo URL's

URL's that are not stripped of symbols, spaces or other non-text left over from programmers is automatically "escaped" by the browser and if you are lucky... the engines. This translates to a value of a space bar action can be seen in coding like this:

  • " " just a space
  •   just a HTMl space

When these are not cleaned or programmatically stripped your URL's, file names and other areas end up with garbage. So garbage in Garbage out holds true from design to end product... this includes your "web development firm". If you have a site that is 80% complete... do yourself a big favor and contact a search engine marketing professional that can save you thousands of dollars in upgrades that should be built into the design in the first place. Programmers hate it but, in the end the client is richer for the aggrevation, and the development firm is pointed in the right direction. We are all learning together!!

So using the chart to loop through the variables and clean the text can translate to higher rankings. One such programatic change on a huge dynamic site has a tendancy to "open" up the throttle on search engine saturation and reach. These changes are observed at Market Leap and Alexa and reported at the end of the month as evidence of our initial domain fundamental interactions.

We welcome your inquires to better market your large dynamic database driven website. We provide code cleaning instructions, implementation (when requested), recommendations and corporate website analysis. Customer service is free! Call us now 714 964-3581.
